Equipment
The networking lab has been purpose-built to support the Cisco Networking Academy curriculum, which uses state-of-the-art networking equipment to teach concepts ranging from fundamental networking skills up to enterprise level network engineering. The equipment in the lab provides support for the following networking areas:
- Enterprise routing and switching
- Network security
- Wireless networking
- Voice over IP (VoIP)
- Network programmability and automation
- Network management
- Software defined networking (SDN)
Some of the devices in the lab include:
- ADTRAN WAN/PSTN simulators
- Cisco ISR 4331 routers
- Cisco Catalyst 9300 multilayer switches with PoE and automation/programmability support
- Cisco Catalyst 9200 switches with automation/programmability support
- Cisco Catalyst 6500 series modular switches
- Cisco IP phones (various models)
- Cisco lightweight wireless access points and WLAN controllers (various models)
- Variety of hardware and software to support the latest networking technologies
The lab also has reservation system that allows students to book time to use the equipment remotely when it is not being used in class. This essentially allows the devices in the lab to be accessible at any time and any place.
