Accounting
The Accounting major provides students with the knowledge, analytical skills, and practical experience needed for successful careers in accounting, finance, and business. Accredited by CPA Ontario, the program offers a pathway to the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, with eligible graduates able to enter the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP).
Students develop expertise in financial reporting, auditing, taxation, management accounting, and business strategy while strengthening their problem-solving and decision-making abilities through case studies, simulations, and experiential learning opportunities. Through co-op, internships, capstone projects, and industry partnerships, students gain valuable real-world experience that prepares them for professional success in a rapidly evolving business environment.
Career Opportunities
An accounting major or minor prepares students for a wide range of careers in finance, business, and public accounting. Graduates can pursue opportunities as accountants, auditors, bankers, consultants, controllers, credit analysts, financial analysts, financial planners, and tax accountants. These roles involve analyzing financial information, supporting business decisions, ensuring regulatory compliance, and helping organizations and individuals achieve their financial goals.
