Technology Management
Our BIT Technology Management major offers a focus on information technology (IT) with a complementary set of business courses designed to meet the needs of today's technology-enabled economy. Our programs will develop your skills in data analytics information systems, change management, and data security. Our programs are designed to provide you with an innovative and market-driven curriculum, so you will be prepared to lead and succeed in the 21st-century workplace.
We are excited to launch our newest major, Technology Management, available for students in both our Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Information Technology degree programs.
A Technology Management major creates well-rounded individuals who can understand the worlds of both business and IT. Graduates will be able to communicate across traditional boundaries, taking a holistic view of how IT and business work together to make organizations and individuals more successful, aware, and secure.
The program offers a balance of business and information technology courses designed to meet the needs of today’s technology-enabled economy. You will develop skills in design thinking, business analytics, information systems, and IT security. You can benefit from exciting experiential learning opportunities including internship, capstone, and international exchanges. We will provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to become an effective project leader, supervisor, or manager in today’s ever-changing business and technical environment.
Career Opportunities
The Networking and Information Technology Security program prepares graduates for careers in network administration, cybersecurity, digital forensics, and IT operations. With organizations placing an increasing emphasis on protecting digital assets and maintaining secure technology environments, graduates are well-positioned to pursue opportunities across a variety of industries. Career opportunities include Data Centre Specialist, Digital Forensics Specialist, Information Security Analyst, IT and Network Support Specialist, and IT Security Auditor. These professionals play a critical role in managing network infrastructure, protecting information systems, investigating security incidents, and ensuring organizational compliance with security standards and best practices.

Ontario Tech University has partnered with SAP Next-Gen to provide the SAP Student Recognition Award, which acknowledges those who have spent notable time using the SAP product suite during their degree program. This recognition/award is issued by the Faculty of Business and I.T. To be eligible for the award, students must take three courses with significant hands-on SAP content.
Students can take any 3 of the following 5 courses to be eligible:
BUSI 2500 – Business Simulation & Analytics
BUSI 2040 or 3040 Information Systems
BUSI 2603 – Intro to Operations Management
BUSI 3504 – Database, Data Warehouse & Business Intelligence
Students who obtain the award can proudly display it on their resumes and show that they have job-ready SAP skills. The Student Recognition Award also grants access to the TS410 course (formerly TERP 10) which provides the professional designation SAP Certified Associate upon passing the examination from SAP.
The SAP Student Recognition Award program began in Fall 2019, students who completed these courses before this date are not eligible for the certificate.
Beginning January 1, 2022 students must earn a B (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) or better on each course to qualify for the SAP Certificate award.
Your advisor can provide you with program checklists and course schedules to assist you as you progress through your program. Designed to be used together, checklists and course schedules will help you select the courses required to progress towards the completion of your degree.
Checklists and course schedules are distributed to you as a guide for course planning assistance. It is your responsibility to confirm the current prerequisites and course requirements for your degree program.
You are always advised to meet with your academic advisor regularly to ensure they are meeting graduation requirements.
